Tips for Safe Shopping

When shopping for beds online there are a few simple indicators that your transactions are being managed securely. To check that any pages where you enter sensitive information are secure look for these things:

In the website address bar check that the address begins with https:// (not http://). This means that the page is secure. In addition to this you should also see a small padlock icon in the bottom right of your browser window, this is not a graphic shown on screen but physically part of the browser application (this may be hidden on some configurations).

Ensure your website uses a well known payment service provider. Although the use of a logo is no indication that the service provider is actually being used it will give you an idea of what is happening at the payment section. Well known service providers include SagePay (formerly Protx), Worldpay, PayPal, Google Checkout and a host of others.

When entering your payment information you may be asked to enter login information for something called 3D Secure, Verified by Visa or Mastercard SecureCode. This is a protection layer added by your bank to ensure that you are who you say you are and these systems should be taken as an indicator of a secure website.
